Making an Appy Hour Menu
I LOVE the idea of the Appy Hour Menu. Such a nice way to present different apps. I discovered them at Hooked on Innovation and am anticipating having great fun creating some of my own to use with teachers.
- On a PC I am working in Word 2010 and making a cute and fancy document with pictures and hyperlinks. It’s even orange – how cute and fancy is that?
- Then I go to ‘Save & Send’ in the sidebar menu and click ‘create PDF/XPS document’.
- Word does its magic and voila! A clickable cute and fancy pdf that can be opened in iBooks! A teacher (or whoever, I’ll let you use it even if you aren’t a teacher ) can view it in iBooks and click on the app icons that strike their fancy in order to open them in the app store.
Here is a mini sample…ooh ooh ooh – I just got a total geeky moment idea that is making me jump up and down in my office chair! This mini sample appy hour menu? I’m calling it…get ready… a Tappas menu!
(I warned you it was geeky)
So here is one I just made quickly and easily. It is a picture of the pdf file that is linked to the pdf file. Its purpose is really to test out if the idea I have works – create the doc, turn it into a pdf, and post it online so that we can view it with iBooks.
Like I said, this is really just a test. Now that I’ve tested it out I’ll be spending the rest of my morning creating my real Tappas Menu (s) for some PD I am facilitating in a few weeks. I will be sure to share them once done
